Chapter 2 - Pulsation

Raiz was sparing with a simulation, putting his body into forms he had almost forgotten, the movements, they made him feel great, and the added G force from the warp added to his training and the feeling of bliss he got from less oxygen, it was like euphoria for a fighter. "Exit simulation." he said he had work to do on the bridge and the work out had calmed everything, his mind, his heart and his worries. "Back. " he said as he entered the bridge with a smile he felt like another person as he sat down at his terminal to wait for orders.

Donovan sighed, hearing the ETA. He wasn't too excited about Alastor going into battle, and for him that 5 hours was like a doomsday clock. It was like that every time Alastor decided to join battle. there was always the possibility that it might be the last time Donovan got to see him.

Waltzing back into the bridge without a word, Donovan took his post. If it was anything he could do to help Alastor avoid straining himself, it was to man the major weapon dry of the Fever. This way, Alastor wouldn't try to use the grapple system. Within a few clicks, Donovan was set, all guns loaded and he sat and watched, eyes determined to pick up anything that might be considered a threat. It was funny, this was the moment they should be relaxing before the fight, and here he was, making sure his job was getting done even though there wasn't a job to do.

Nostromo slowly assumed a fully steady grip of the controls once more, having allowed the system to make the necessary autopilot adjustments for the past few hours; enough to take a little nap right where he sat. "Huuuaa! ..Adjusting all systems to semi-manual control.. All attributes on the system core through output to semi and main trust engines are steady.. Readings are on target and navigation is steady down to a 0.1% margin, of course!" he reported, smiling to the captain and to Siren, who did all the navigation inputs of course! =3

A few more button clicks, and he retained control of the ships drive, slowly bringing down the ships speed factors as he scanned the territory ahead from his station; readings of his vitals showing a slight rise in adrenaline and other nerve controlling systems keeping his mind steady, "Scans ahead concur the target position, but.. What the hell is that?!"

Fiddling with his controls, he couldn't make a clear idea of it, leaving everything up to Siren to determine what exactly was coming up inbound that wasn't detected until now by the scanning ranges.

Great...

Claire had never been in a scuffle before. Not in a spaceship. Her body tensed, not knowing what would hasppen from here on in. She simply continued her tasks and waited for orders. But she did take a second to put on her seat belt. If only she had a helmet....

A grin appeared on Donovan's face. It's like a whole new him had just been formed. Well, it was his stereotypical self, but different then from a second before.

"Now...this is my kind of party" he said, his voice deep, and tone dark. "Alastor?" he said, waiting for the command to attack back. He was so eager, he already had the triggers half pressed.

Found a grin on his face as well, despite noting an array of rounds being fired upon them, it was his turn to do an evasive maneuver with a bit of crazy flair. Grasping the control locks, he would bind the ships motions to the joystick like device in his hand and slowly and smoothly bring the ship to tilt in an right angle, then to swiftly throw it into a left spin, essentially bringing the ships into a controlled spin angling to the left and right.

The shift in motion brought the disruptor rounds ahead to swing with the motions of the ship, and allow for easy avoidance of the enemy missiles. Eventually Nostromo brought the ship into an upside down position, and lifting it high enough to surge over and past the enemy ship; making things even more interesting by pulling the ship into a vertical climb that brought it into the rear of the enemy vessel.

"So....do we fire?" he asked ready to press buttons and moved a few cannons into position ready for action. All the while he made sure to keep an eye on the engine read outs, everything was still in the green, "Hey boss...boss? you there?" came a voice on his terminal, "Nice to see your back in the engine room Key, anything i should know that im not getting?" he asked "Ara....why did i call again...?" he said and cut the connection

"Aye" he said and pressed a big blue button on his terminal, a projection of everything around the ship appeared around him, he moved his hand and pressed the holographic ship causing a bulls eye to appear signaling that it was locked, he smiled and slammed down the big red button, "Bang."

"Raiz, leave some for me, yeah?" he laughed, watching the fireworks start. Donovan then reached for a big center contol on the top of his terminal. Aiming it dead on, he started charging the cannon, the shocking build up could be heard throughout the ship as the large piece of machinery started to roar to life. After about a minute, the gun was charged. "Ready when you are, Alastor" he said, quite excitedly. Well, excited for Donovan that is.

Raiz smiled at Don, "Not gunna happen." he said as he tapped the ship adding more lock on's to it, turning more phase guns on their unfortunate assaulter's, he then started pinpointing specific areas, namely, their guns and cannons.

"I'm done with the sight of there pitiful ship. Raiz, on the count of three?" he grinned devilishly.

"1....." he flipped open the switch.


"2....." he readied the shot.


"3....." he pulled the triggered, the ship moving backwards a bit from the strength of the blast. A large beam of a whitish-purple light sped towards the ship, cutting through and ripping the ship to shreds.

"Aww, cant play with them first? does it have to be instant kill all the time, there could have been some good bounties on board." he said, disappointing that he didn't get a chance to fire much, "Anyway, whats next Alastor, we should have a clear path now."

After the event with the other ship Raiz had gone back to the simulator room, there in a private room no one could peek on him, he practiced to improve and just to let loose and calm down. He kept on fighting the simulated master over and over again, trying to beat it at least once, he smiled and laughed at the way he missed and was blocked most of the time. He didn't know what everyone was doing but he was getting hungry from all the work, he terminated the program and picked up his shirt along with a towel and a small bottle of water and walked out heading for the showers wiping off his sweat.

Claire was in the main computer room, where all the prosessors and the mother board were. She was intsalling new hardware and rewiring the network to make things so more smoothly, and she was installing a back up system incase of emergencies. She had read about computer viruse, and even though they were pretty much non existent in this day in age, she wanted the ship to at least have some security.

The backup system covered all the basic functions on the ship. Controlling the artificial gravity, the heater (since they were in space, where there is a lack of heat, the ship relies on a heater to keep it at a comfortable tempurature, should this malfunction, everyone would freeze to death), engines, some weapons, etc etc.

She got out her sodering iron to hook up a new chip. Leaning own she grabbed some soder from her duffel bag. She rested the hot iron on her leg without realizing it. When it touched her, she swore very loudly.

She jerked her hand and tossed the iron to the side, and covered her burn. It wasn't serious, but it stung. It scared her more than anything else. She finished her job and headed off toward her room to get a few hours of shut eye before returnign back to work.

Nostromo was all business from there on out, "Acknowledged," he answered the captain, putting the engine systems into the process of slowing down for a smooth landing. Such processes usually caused a significant amount of spacial disturbance if attempted, at any faster rates, and would already be subject for creating ever so soft tremors in the ships hull. "Estimated time for destination arrival, 15 minutes..", the on-board computer soon announced, giving Nostromo the opportunity to patch in all final given coordinates and bring the planet into view, a sight that slowly became ever more clearer.

"Show no mercy" was the only thing he said to Raiz as he stood up from his terminal. "When told to shoot, you shoot to kil" he grinned before walking away from his chair. He waltzed around the bridge a bit, waking up a bit for he had been on the ship for a few hours now and was ready to get off.

"Alastor, what are the plans when we first land?" he asked, planning ahead. He was standing just outside the captain's terminal. He heard Nostromo's terminal go off, announcing 15 minutes until landing, so it was imperative that they knew what they were doing before then.
